Pilates is a body conditioning form of exercise. It aims to strengthen the body in an even way, with particular emphasis on core strength to improve general fitness and well-being. Pilates was developed by German born Joseph Pilates, who believed mental and physical health were closely connected. At ‘The Upper Deck Studio’ we offer an exercise class called ‘Pilates and Stretch,’ this is a class for beginners. We offer a class called ‘Pop Pilates’ which is a fun Pilates class to music with a beat at a beginner to intermediate level. We also offer blocks of private 121 Pilates sessions.

What are the benefits?

Pilates can improve posture, muscle tone, balance, joint mobility and a better quality of movement. Pilates can also relieve stress and tension. Regular Pilates can build whole body strength and flexibility. It can reduce risk of injury. Pilates can offer so much to women who are preparing to start a family or already have one. Pilates will strengthen and retrain the pelvic floor. It can strengthen all muscles including the abdominal ones. Many mums find that it corrects posture, helps them regain confidence and improves their physical condition which helps them to cope with the demands of children.
